Iolaire Poppy Pin Badge
A special pin badge commissioned to commemorate the centenary of the Iolaire Tragedy. A ship's bell symbolising the loss of the troop passenger yacht HMY Iolaire is placed alongside the Scottish Poppy.
On 1st January 1919 during a storm HMY Iolaire hit rocks as the ship approached Stornoway Harbour, and sank with the loss of 201 men who had fought in the First World War. The sinking is one of Britain's worst peacetime maritime disasters.
